Für Studienanfänger*innen

"Welcome" - in English :-)

Halle University is becoming more and more international every year. This is also due to the steady increase in international study programmes and, of course, foreign students who are interested in them (and also in the programmes offered in German). Welcome to Halle, welcome to our university!

The International section of our portal is available in German and English. It contains a lot of basic information, especially about getting started and moving on in Germany and Halle. From there you can access further pages providing information in English on various topics.

A rather international term: COVID-19. The virus has also disrupted our life at university. Stay informed with our English FAQ specials on the general situation at the university and on international students' specific questions.

If you are unable to find English translations for some topics, we recommend using online translation tools, which have become increasingly powerful in recent years. If you still have questions, please contact the International Office.

Welcome Week and subject-specific introduction sessions

At the beginning of each winter semester, we offer all new students the Central Orientation Days (Zentrale Orientierungstage) including a Matriculation Ceremony (Feierliche Immatrikulation). The International Office participates in this with a special online programme, which is also offered in English. Of course, you are also welcome to attend the programmes offered in German.

If you are doing your entire degree programme in Halle, you should also attend the subject-specific introductions! Don't be put off by the fact that the schedule database is in German, because in the drop-down menu you will find English/bilingual schedule entries for the international and/or bilingual study programmes. Why not give it a try right now?!
