Albert Arzumanian comes from an Armenian family who were forced to flee to Russia in the 1990s due to the war. The experience of starting afresh in a new country shaped him from an early age and inspired in him a desire to forge his own path through education. In 2021, this path led him to Germany.
Mr Arzumanian studied economic mathematics at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree and a grade of 1.7. He is currently studying for a Master’s degree in mathematics, with a grade point average of 1.5. His focus is on numerical mathematics and the development of mathematical models to describe complex systems. Alongside his studies, he worked for several years as a student assistant at the Fraunhofer Institute in the field of solar energy and photovoltaics. He is currently undertaking an internship in the field of artificial intelligence at a consultancy firm.
Alongside his studies, he volunteers at VfL Halle 1896, helping with childcare, and is involved in the International Office’s buddy programme, where he supports international students upon their arrival in Germany. Previously, he worked as an interpreter and volunteered as a German teacher for refugees. As a member of the Mathematics Students’ Council, he helps organise day-to-day student life and facilitates communication between students and lecturers. As part of the "Lange Nacht der Wissenschaft", he gave a public talk, together with a fellow student, on how modern artificial intelligence works.
We would like to acknowledge this outstanding commitment.
Congratulations and all the best for your future!
