Enrolment as a doctoral student

While you are undertaking your doctorate in Halle, you can enrol as a doctoral student. Enrolment is generally voluntary and is only compulsory in exceptional cases (e.g. the PhD board requires you to attend/complete certain seminars). Enrolment for doctoral students is not restricted by any deadlines and can be done at any time (including retroactively for the current semester).

Enrolment gives you regular student status and allows you to take advantage of benefits such as the Deutschlandsemesterticket (Germany-wide ticket for public transport, except for long-distance trains), use of the library, university WiFi, student canteen prices, etc. enrolment is therefore mostly worth it.
